Our products are extractives and essential oils containing the desired "essence" of the spice or herb, and formulated to serve the technical needs of individual customers' applications.

Our work consists of taking the variable spices and herbs provided from season to season and converting them into flavorings, colorings and spice-derived pharmaceutical intermediates which are consistent in quality and utility.

Our science utilizes all relevant analytical and organoleptic techniques as well as knowledge of chemistry and engineering. The insights our knowledge and techniques have given us, and continue to give us, are reflected in our physical plant and fields, as well as our products.

Our art reflects our love of, and appreciation for, the goodness of nature and our ability to use our science to preserve and enhance its goodness. And our art also permits us to formulate our products so that they will enhance the stability and nutritional value of the foods in which they become flavorings and colorings.

Our practice is to make our insights and knowledge available to customers by offering technical support in the use of our products, so that they will provide maximum benefits and ease of use. This is why we have hundreds of product formulations, about half of which are proprietary.

Our Facility
Food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries are served by the Kalsec® production laboratory and administrative facility located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Basic extraction capability coupled with refining, distillation, and finishing operations afford control, support flexibility, and sustain innovation. Kalsec Southwest®, Kalsec®'s farming and dehydration operation, is situated in Denver City, Texas, and provides a reliable source of quality raw materials for extraction.
